I wait hoping for a humorous and newsy feel to take over, but I am dealing with nausea, vomiting, pain, sleeplessness, and sleepiness. Since chemotherapy last week, I am weaker with less energy, something I can expect will carry over for at least another month. Showering and dressing takes like lots more time, energy, bath towels, John's help. I hope that soon I will be able to take little walks, see our sprouting tulips, and dress myself!
I expect that after the third chemo treatment (about April 26), I should be feeling stronger but about that time I will start an additional chemo, one which is focused on the colon cancer. It will be some different, for sure!
We saw Dr. Moore, our oncologist, today. He wants me to start having a 1000 ml hydration IV twice a week to alleviate dehydration and--gasp--to start more nutritional and caloric supplements to prevent further weight loss.
........One day at a time, perhaps one hour at a time or even one minute at a time is the way we get through a day sometimes! Holding you in prayerful thoughts. May all the en"courage"ment of your friends and family infuse you with courage equal to & exceeding the recovery process. Know you are warmly thought of. God Bless and Keep you each hour and each minute of your day!~Linda & Mike I.
ReplyDeleteDear Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteIt's okay...you don't always have to be newsy and humorous. Just be yourself - whatever you are at that particularly time. When I read this I did say, "Oh, sh__," but I also pray for your strength, and that of John's and the rest of the family. I can't wait until you have a "normal" day again...I believe it will come, but it will be a while, I know. Until then, please tell us anything that you want. It really does help to read your words.
All of the Frazes think and talk of you daily.
Love,
Ann
Hey Marilyn, just remember that each day that you feel ill is another day that the chemo is killing the cancer. I have never went through it but I have known a lot that have done it and won! Keep up the good fight! We are thinking about you a lot. Hope that you can enjoy your spring. Spring is starting to bloom here!
ReplyDeleteHang in there

Hi Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say hi and give YOU a little newsy bit: Has anyone written to tell you that Rob Loe's baby arrived last week? His name is Tristan...he has a mop of black hair and long fingers :-). Bet his daddy will have him on the piano before long!
We're having a sunny, beautiful day here in Vilseck...with just a bit of a cool breeze. Of course I'M sitting here in my classroom (Chris Liles' old room down from yours...SO happy about that!) grading stacks of papers and looking wistfully out the window. Ok. You're right, I'm writing to YOU and not grading. HA! LOL...you caught me!
Hoping this finds you feeling just a bit better today. The prayers for healing roll on. I'm also hoping you are blessed TODAY with sunshine and laughter, and if not today, then tomorrow! Dang it, now I'm humming ANNIE :-). "The sun will come out..." you know the tune! Hugs, Becky
Thanks, Barbara! I am trying my best. I do have 5 chemo drugs grouped together as "5 FU." Seriously.
